The Bowery is home to the most outstanding food carts I’ve ever had the pleasure of trying. To this day, I still haven’t had anything close to it. The cart was operated by a Native American guy that we called Lone Wolf. He was like a shaman on 2nd street and Bowery, appearing only on the nights when we were most fucked up, never on a regular schedule, always dishing out lamb wraps with spices and vegetables that were impossibly fresh by street-meat standards.
Then, like that, he was gone. We have no idea how or why he disappeared (most likely reason: his permit expired), but if anyone has spotted a 6’3, 220 pound American Indian operating a food cart in or around the East Village, please let me know.

Seen in a tree on Mott Street just north of Gimme Coffee, street art imitates internet life with a bored bird, closely resembling Twitter’s own mascot, tweeting at passersby.
